Ok, I called BOLI..Oregon's department of labor and I told them exactly what happened and how long I have been there. I also told them that we never do shift changes. The other thing I told them was that I was never warned by her that she does take wages out if there are shortages, because had she warned me, I would have never taken the job in the first place. 

And they told me that what she did is clearly illegal and that what she was doing was intimidating me into paying her back by doing that in front of the customers. They told me to file an unemployment claim and explain in details what happened then they will go from there.

I have been thinking about what happened yesterday and need to say I have been working in customer service since 1982 and have ran many, many cash registers and have never had to pay back any shortages ever. Plus, I was never warned that if my tills did come up short I would have to pay you back, because had that been discussed I would have never taken the job in the first place.
